ITINERARY

You will be greeted by a Travel with Shira representative and transferred to your hotel. The hotel offers comfortable rooms, hot showers, Wi-Fi, a swimming pool, and friendly service.

Evening: Climb briefing and equipment check with your lead guide.

Check-in: 2:00 PM

After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate for registration and permits. Begin trekking through rainforest trails to Machame Camp (2,835m). Expect tropical showers, so bring a raincoat.

Trekking Time: 5–6 hours
Distance: 5 km / 3.1 miles

Altitude Tips:

  • Drink at least 4 liters of water daily

  • Take preventive altitude medication if recommended

  • Report any symptoms of altitude sickness

Trek from Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,750m). Emerge from rainforest and enjoy breathtaking views of the Shira Plateau.

After lunch, take an acclimatization hike toward Lava Tower (+400m) to help your body adjust to higher altitudes. Return to Shira Camp for dinner and rest.

  • Start: Shira Camp (3,750m)

  • Destination: Lava Tower (4,120m)

  • Distance: 2 km / 1.2 miles

  • Hiking Time: 1–2 hours

Trekking Time: 4–5 hours
Distance: 5 km / 3.1 miles

Depart Shira Camp and trek to Lava Tower (4,600m). This section includes ascents and descents, helping with acclimatization. Enjoy lunch at the top before descending to Barranco Camp (3,950m), at the base of the famous Barranco Wall.

Trekking Time: 6–8 hours
Distance: 11 km / 6.8 miles

Climb the Barranco Wall early in the morning. After a short rest and photo opportunities with Kibo Volcano, continue trekking to Karanga Camp, and then ascend to Barafu Camp (4,600m) to prepare for summit night.

Trekking Time: 8–10 hours
Distance: 11 km / 6.8 miles

Depart Barafu Camp around midnight for the summit (Uhuru Peak, 5,895m). Climbers are paired with guides for support. After summiting, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue to Millennium Camp (3,900m).

Trekking Time: 8–12 hours
Distance: 15 km / 9.3 miles

Safety Note: Most accidents occur during descent – watch your footing.

Descend through tropical rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640m). Celebrate your achievement, share experiences in the guestbook, receive summit certificates, and transfer back to your hotel.

Distance: 12 km / 7.4 miles

After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.
