Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s largest and most iconic wildlife reserve, located in the northwestern part of the country where the River Nile dramatically forces its way through a narrow gorge before plunging 43 meters below as the powerful Murchison Falls. The park’s breathtaking scenery combines open savannah, riverine forests, wetlands, and woodland landscapes.

The park is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, and large herds of Uganda kobs. The Nile River supports one of the highest concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles in Africa, while boat safaris to the base of the falls provide exceptional opportunities for close-up wildlife viewing and photography.

Murchison Falls National Park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 450 bird species, including the rare and prehistoric-looking shoebill stork. Game drives on the northern bank, boat cruises along the Nile, and hikes to the top of the falls offer visitors a diverse and unforgettable safari experience.
