Established as a National Park in 1952 and later expanded in 1959 to cover 14,763 sq. km, the Serengeti forms part of a vast and interconnected ecosystem stretching over 35,000 sq. km. Today, it proudly holds the status of both a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage Site, highlighting its global importance.
