Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s most popular and diverse wildlife destinations, located in western Uganda between Lake Edward and Lake George, at the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. The park is renowned for its dramatic landscapes, which include open savannahs, volcanic crater lakes, wetlands, and dense forests, offering visitors a truly varied safari experience.

The park is home to an impressive range of wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, and Uganda kobs. It is especially famous for its rare tree-climbing lions found in the Ishasha sector, a unique attraction that draws visitors from around the world. Queen Elizabeth National Park also supports over 600 bird species, making it one of the best birdwatching destinations in Africa.

A highlight of any visit is the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. Boat cruises along the channel provide exceptional opportunities to view large concentrations of hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and a wide variety of water birds at close range. The park also offers chimpanzee tracking experiences in the Kyambura Gorge, adding a primate encounter to the classic savannah safari.
