Kibale National Park is Uganda’s premier primate destination, located in western Uganda near Fort Portal, at the edge of the Albertine Rift Valley. The park is best known for its exceptional chimpanzee tracking experiences and protects one of the largest remaining tracts of tropical rainforest in East Africa.

Kibale is home to 13 species of primates, including chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, and olive baboons. Guided chimpanzee tracking and habituation experiences offer visitors an unforgettable opportunity to observe these intelligent primates in their natural environment. The park also supports forest elephants, buffaloes, and a wide variety of birdlife.

Beyond primates, Kibale National Park boasts remarkable biodiversity with over 375 bird species and an impressive range of butterflies and plant life. The nearby Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary provides an excellent community-based eco-tourism experience, combining nature walks, birdwatching, and cultural encounters with local communities.
