Mount Longonot National Park is a striking natural attraction located in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya, near Naivasha. The park is centered around Mount Longonot, a dormant stratovolcano whose summit rises approximately 2,776 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding savannah, crater, and Lake Naivasha.
The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, elands, gazelles, and a wide range of bird species. Its unique volcanic landscape makes it ideal for adventurous visitors interested in hiking, nature photography, and exploring geological formations. The main trail to the summit is popular among hikers and provides a rewarding challenge with spectacular views of the crater floor and the Rift Valley escarpments.
Mount Longonot National Park is less crowded than many other Kenyan parks, giving visitors a more tranquil and immersive experience. The crater itself is a highlight, with steep slopes, geothermal vents, and unique flora adapted to the volcanic soil.
